A big blow for the Golden State Warriors as two key players, Draymond Green and Kristaps Porziņģis, are ruled out for the Sunday showdown against the Denver Nuggets. This news comes as a surprise, especially with Porziņģis' recent acquisition and debut just a few days ago.
But here's where it gets controversial... Porziņģis' absence is due to an illness, which has left the team uncertain about his availability for the upcoming road trip. Coach Steve Kerr admits he hasn't spoken to Porziņģis directly, but received a text indicating his sickness.
Porziņģis' health has been a concern for the Warriors, as he's only appeared in 60 games over the last two years due to various issues. Kerr, however, remains confident in his decision to trade for Porziņģis, believing he can stay healthy.
In the meantime, Quinten Post is expected to step up and fill Porziņģis' minutes.
And this is the part most people miss... the Warriors also have to deal with the absence of Draymond Green, who was scratched due to a lower back issue. Al Horford is set to start in his place, and Kerr has some strong words about Green's performance and the team's expectations.
Kerr emphasizes the need for Green to continue shooting from the outside when open, despite his current 32% shooting percentage from beyond the arc. He highlights Green's amazing performance against San Antonio before the break, where his defense and 3-point shooting were on point.
"We know what Draymond's capable of," Kerr says. "As you get older, it becomes tougher to perform consistently every night. But Draymond's defensive intensity and court awareness are invaluable to us."
The Warriors will have to adapt their strategies and combinations without Green and Porziņģis, and it will be interesting to see how they navigate this challenge.
